Russian is spoken as a primary language by about 175 million people.
It is in the top 10 of languages most spoken (by native speakers).

From 1700 to 1918 the Julian calendar was used in Russia: you have to count +13 calendar days to know the date according to the Gregorian calendar (aka the Western calendar or Christian calendar).

Ivan the Terrible wasn't considered so terrible at his time: Иван Грозный should be translated as Ivan the Awesome, reflecting his might rather than his cruelty.
